As a returning client, WPT wanted to reinvent its Player of the Year (POY) award. The earlier piece was made of crystal. They loved its brilliance and weight, but it was extremely fragile. Together, we wanted to create a more durable choice that would ship well.
We decided to use aluminum to offer a hefty feel yet refined look. We did not use expensive molds to create the pillars. As a result, we did not coat those components in a different finish. Instead, we invested in the polishing process to deliver high gloss and shine. To distinguish each pillar, we differently sized each one. We also decorated them with a different card suit made from colored acrylic. Lastly, we machined the base out of metal and drilled in the aluminum pieces. We secured the entire piece in a wooden crate and shipped it to its destination.
