2018 Vertex Awards
2018 Vertex Awards: International Retail Brand Design
The Vertex Awards are the only global competition devoted exclusively to the art of Private Brand package design. The awards are judged by a highly esteemed panel of industry experts from around the world and awarded based on Creativity, Marketability, and Innovation. The new trophy design is a crystal “V”, an homage to the Vertex Awards logo. Beginning this year, winners at all levels will take home the coveted new design developed by Cristaux International.
“We started the competition with the intent to celebrate the best, the most ground-breaking retailer owned brand and package design,” said Christopher Durham, president, My Private Brand. “We crossed our fingers people would want to join us on this journey, and we weren’t disappointed. We’re proud to say we have been instrumental in advancing private brand package design through the celebration of the best of the best each year. It’s important to show the world that private brand doesn’t mean ho-hum, cheap packaging.”
Over the years, the number of Vertex Awards participants has tripled. More than 200 retailers, agencies, and manufacturers from over 45 countries have entered the competition, with close to 1,200 separate entries. Past winners include Tesco, Kroger, 7-Eleven, Aldi, Boxed, Woolworths, Giant, Lidl, Lowe’s Home Improvement, Jumbo, Marks & Spencer, Target, The Home Depot, Walmart, and Wegmans, to name a few.
“Believing private brand design and identity apply to more than just physical products, we’ve refreshed the Vertex Award brand identity with an updated logo and a redesigned website we believe is easier to navigate and has a modern feel,” said Phil Russo, publisher, Global Retail Brands. “Combine that with the beauty of the redesigned trophies themselves, and you have a fifth-anniversary edition we’re proud of.”
